We are a bit
Idiosyncratic.

We base our approach on two key ideas that guide everything we do for you.
Leadership involves building relationships. Your main role is to inspire your team, funders, volunteers, and partners to work towards a distant, uncertain outcome. Building consensus is essential.
Leadership requires making independent decisions. In pivotal moments, you must navigate through differing opinions and make choices under pressure, often with limited options. While you can seek support, the final decision rests with you.

Every decision, action, and word creates opportunity. Always.

We Offer Lived Experience

The nonprofit sector is navigating conditions it hasn't seen before — simultaneous federal funding contraction, funder uncertainty, rising demand, and leadership exhaustion. The organizations that will come through this are not the ones with the best mission statements. They're the ones with the most functional boards, the clearest CEO–Chair partnerships, and the governance discipline to make hard decisions fast. That is the work we do.

We are operators, founders, board leaders, and investors. We have been the CEO navigating board politics. We've been the Board Chair supporting CEOs while holding them accountable. We have raised capital, managing funder relationships through transitions and crises, grown revenue in unforgiving environments, hired and fired executives, recruited and developed boards, scaled through chaos, and steered organizations through mergers and consolidation.

Our counsel is based on lived experience. Each engagement, each session is uniquely tuned to help you build and lead your organization.

Why Leaders
Come to Us

At the highest levels of a nonprofit, candor is scarce. CEOs can't always be fully transparent with their boards. Board chairs can't always be fully direct with their CEOs.
Everyone on the board and in management have a stake in the outcomes.
What the CEO and Chair need is a partner who has occupied both seats — who will listen without agenda, challenge without politics, and help you act with clarity.
You don’t need a consultant peddling best practices from someone else’s organization. You need a partner to help you establish your best practices.

Leadership Requires Practice

Leadership is a learned behavior — not a gift for the lucky few. We help you find your way.

Leaders need unvarnished assessments — not flattery. We help you discern information in chaos.

A seasoned guide brings empathy and edge. We listen deeply while challenging assumptions.

Courage and practice are the crucible in which great leaders are made.  We push you to be your best.

Our Promise to You

We don’t cheer you from the sidelines. We walk with you into the arena.
We don’t quote leadership books. We help you write your own.
We don’t tell you what you want to hear. We tell you what you need to hear.
Practice doesn't make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect. We help you see the difference.
